We are going to look at a special woman in the Bible today, a woman who was a woman of prayer, courage and faithfulness. We are going to look at a woman from the Old Testament and we are going to discover that she has still got a lot to say to you mothers today. Because she too had her fair share of struggles within herself in her lifetime and she too had her fair share of ups and downs with her family. A Woman Who Cared Enough To Pray

I think that women are the most under estimated Christians in most congregations. And we men need to honour them for what they actually do within our church family. Our scripture reading this morning was taken from the book of Proverbs and I just want to repeat the last verse.

Proverbs 31:31 “Give her credit for all she does. She deserves the respect of everyone.” Credit And Respect, Where Credit And Respect Is Due

The word ‘deacon’ in Greek is the word ‘diakonos’ and it simply means, a servant and it can be translated as servant, minister, deacon, or waiter.

The word deacon is used in a special way and a general way. Deaconesses

One of the evils of sin is the selling and buying of humans into slavery across the world. People became slaves in various ways- as travellers captured in foreign lands, or taken during a military campaign or bestowed by the king or as prisoners of war or in response to labour shortage.

Some sold themselves or family members due to debt to escape poverty. From Slavery To Freedom. Part 1

We are now slaves of a righteous God and therefore slaves of righteousness (Rom 6:18-23). Like the physical slave we are entirely in His debt and owned by Him. He takes us into His home and since we have no name of worth and own nothing except our filthy rags of sin, we are totally dependent on Him for everything.

When God brings us home certain things happen beyond our wildest imagination that would not normally happen to a physical slave. From Slavery To Freedom. Part 2

All the godly women we find within Scriptures and many Christian women today all have learned to do what Hannah did with her problems. They have poured out their hearts and souls to God in prayer in trust. They have learned to recognise when God has delivered them from their problems and recognised that they need to remain faithful always. Hannah, A Great Role Model

The Holy Spirit gave the reason for the limitations, a reason that transcends all culture and all locations. Paul stated that women aren’t to exercise spiritual authority over men because ‘Adam was created before Eve’. Here, we are given the heart and core of God’s will concerning how men and women are to function and interconnect. How Are Women Saved Through Childbearing?

I understand that marriage isn’t for everyone and some people are very happy to remain single all their lives, but there are others who fall in love and want to spend the rest of their lives with that special person. Marriage is one of those beautiful gifts for God designed for life, but it should never be entered lightly. Marriage

In the Corinthians church we see a picture of people singing solos, speaking tongues, prophesying, and women speaking up and preaching all at the same time, this was an ultra-liberal church. Paul admonishes the women to ‘keep silent in the churches’ in the same context that he told the tongue speaker and prophet.

Their silence was in relation to teaching out of turn for order’s sake. The women, however, had zero time for preaching, exhorting, consolation, and edification to the assembly of saints and thus Paul commands total silence in this area. Should Women Be ‘Silent’ In Church?

Exercising and healthy eating are all good to keep us fit and healthy yet in the end we know that our physical bodies will not continue for eternity no matter what we do to it. The wrinkles and grey hairs will still come. I already have a few. How much time, energy and money do you spend on your physical body which is temporary? Spiritual Fitness As A Christian Woman: The Best You!

Remember all the Old Testament woman who did great things for God and served Him wholeheartedly, women like Sarah, Rebekah, Leah, Rachel, Miriam, Deborah, Abigail, Ruth, Esther, and other noble women. This is who Peter is referring to in 1 Peter 3:5, ‘For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves’.

Notice he calls them ‘holy women’, this was a huge complement to them, not sexism. The Blessedness Of Women

Remember we are not alone on this planet in our workplaces, even though sometimes it feels like it. We are surrounded by a cloud of witnesses who have gone before us whose testament reminds and stirs us on; we have Jesus who went on ahead; and the faithful in our generation who inspire us today, who are commended for their faithful work. The Christian Woman In The Work Place

Each of us as God’s child is like a heart-shaped box full of unconditional love and kisses from our children and family. We are blessed with these relationships & with those of our church family and Christian friends which help us on our journey to heaven.

We can lean on or be leaned upon by them when we struggle or become discouraged. The Gift Box!

Being a mum is the toughest job you will ever love. And I think that we all know that the most important hat that mum wears, is that she is the model of authentic faith, that often makes that very first powerful impression, in the life of a child.

My point is that God doesn’t just give his attention to the Sarahs of the world but to the Hagars as well. The God Who Sees

The hardest type of grace to show is towards your enemies. This is type of grace God is exceedingly rich in showing to mankind who became His enemy because we are all break His laws, and as law breakers or sinners our sins and wickedness separate us from Him and condemns us to His wrath, judgement and hell. The Power And Effect Of God’s Grace

In the book of Proverbs, Wisdom is portrayed as a woman, and the book concludes with this acrostic poem, where we see the complete summation of Wisdom embodied as the perfect woman. If God was to describe to Adam in the Garden of Eden what He had in mind as the perfect helper for him, this would be it. The Woman of Proverbs 31, Is This Achievable Today?

As Christians we are following that narrow highway to heaven, and we must be careful that we aren’t misguided into following that easier pathway, for we know the reward will surely be worth the journey. Unlike most travels, we are packing our bags and sending them ahead of us. But as Christians, we are preparing ourselves spiritually so that we will be fully equipped for our final destination. It is how we prepare ourselves and conduct ourselves as we travel that will benefit us and others all of the way. Walking In The Footprints Of Jesus Christ

Now unlike us today who don’t live in Corinth or were around during this time, we can safely know that the people in Corinth knew exactly what Paul was talking about, as far as this ‘practice’ was concerned.

At the same time, Paul makes it clear that there are some clear principles that are involved which are unchanged regarding the Christian being pleasing to the will of God. Women And The Head Covering!

One of the most debated topics in the Christian world today is the role of a woman within the church, especially when it comes to being pastors or publicly preaching on the Lord’s Day. The only way to end these debates is to simply go the Scriptures and ask the question, what do the Scriptures say about this topic? Women Pastors

"And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus."
