They Have Taken My Lord’s Name Away, Part 2

Introduction

‘Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.’ Acts 4:12

In an attempt to stop the apostles from preaching the glad tidings of the resurrection of Christ, Peter and John were called to question before the Sanhedrin council in Jerusalem after healing the crippled man at the beautiful gate, Peter emphasized to the teachers of the law and the elders that salvation is not found in any other name than the name of Jesus, Acts 4:12.

After His resurrection, but before His ascension to heaven, the Lord Jesus declares: ‘All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen’, Matthew 28:18-20. Salvation therefore is only in Christ!

There is an indescribable level of perversion in the world today. Countless number of religious leaders has placed themselves over a pedestal assuming the place of Christ, offering people salvation or deceptively using the name of Christ, but in actual sense, making merchandise of others and exerting authority in their own names.

The names of these so called ‘men of God’ continuously ring amongst their followers and on mass media that one begins to wonder if the name of Christ is of any significance to these groups. This situation should re-awaken us to prayerfully rescue the perishing, care for the dying and passionately preach the Christ and Him crucified!

‘In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.’ 2 Timothy 4:1-5
